Frequently Asked Questions
"What is a zine?"Fanzines, short for fanmade magazines- are collections of unofficial, self-published media such as artwork and writing from multiple creators alike focused on a specific topic."What type of art will be accepted?"Concerning artwork, we accept traditional (high quality scans), 3D and digital illustrations. Writing and music will also be allowed in the zine."How would musician applications work?"With enough interest, we're considering opening musician applications as long as we receive a certain percentage of applicants in our interest check!"Do I need prior zine experience to apply?"Although it is recommended, it isn't necessary to have prior zine experience."Is the zine in any way NSFW?"No, in fact, no forms of NSFW will be allowed, as this is zine is strictly SFW."How will communication work throughout the zine?"There will be a discord server respective to the zine that all contributors will join. All resources in relation to the zine will be included inside the server.
Rules and Guidelines
Must have a Discord.
Must be at least 16 years old.
Some form of linkable portfolio.
The linkable portfolio's in question must only include the form of media the contributor will apply to, which will be- illustrations, writing, and/or music. we recommend creating a google drive folder if you don't previously have one.
Portfolios must be SFW. If there is anything other than SFW, at the very least- without warning, it will disqualify you from the zine.
Portfolios will be judged based off of the following criteria: Backgrounds, Color Harmonization, Anatomy, and Fully Colored Illustrations.
Portfolios must have a minimum of 5 pieces.
Your portfolio doesn't need to have Mario & Luigi themed samples, but it is encouraged.
Illustrations and writing involving fan-characters are allowed, but this zine will focus more on the canon game, rather than fanon entities.
Special Rule
In regards to pitch assignments, page/spread artists must fill out a list of "must haves" for the zine, before it is allowed to illustrate desired pitches. EX: Final/Pseudo Boss Fight Scenes. In order for this to be done, illustrators will make 3 decision slots of "must haves", and will be allowed to create 3 pitches on their own during the Pitch Assignment period. This will be explained further in our Contributor Applications.
